Do I need a fishing license to go on a charter trip in Florida?
No. You’re covered under the Sea Horse’s vessel license for the duration of the trip. You don’t need to purchase a Florida saltwater fishing license when you’re fishing on a licensed charter boat. Just show up — we handle the paperwork.
What fish can I expect to catch on a deep sea trip out of Riviera Beach?
It depends on the season, but we regularly target mahi, snapper, grouper, and sharks off the Palm Beach
to Jupiter stretch. Mahi run strong in summer. Snapper and grouper are solid year-round on the bottom
structure. We always catch fish — the species just changes with the water.
Is this trip good for kids or first-timers?
It’s one of the best things you can do with kids on the water. The crew helps with everything — baiting
hooks, landing fish, all of it. First-timers do great on drift fishing trips because the action is steady and
you’re not waiting around. We’ve had plenty of kids catch their first fish right here.
What should I bring on the trip?
Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and a light layer if you run cold on the water. Bring snacks and drinks —
there’s a cooler on board. Closed-toe shoes are recommended on deck. We supply all the rods, tackle,
bait, and ice for your catch.
What’s your policy if the weather is bad?
Safety comes first on the Sea Horse. If conditions aren’t fishable, we’ll let you know before you drive to the marina. Capt. Lee has been running these waters for over 20 years and knows when to go and when to wait. We’d rather reschedule than have a rough ride nobody enjoyed.
How many people can fit on the boat?
The Sea Horse runs as a shared drift boat, so you’ll be fishing alongside other anglers. Families of 12 have fished with us comfortably. If you want the whole boat to yourselves, a private charter is available — call (561) 254-5124 for rates and availability.
Where do you depart from?
We depart from Safe Harbor New Port Cove Marina, Slip 16, at 255 E 22nd Court in Riviera Beach, FL 33404. Look for the Sea Horse at Slip 16. Arrive about 15 minutes before your trip.
Where do I park?
Park in the lot across the street from the back of the large blue and white marina building. It’s easy to spot once you’re on 22nd Court. Arrive about 15 minutes before your trip and you’ll have plenty of time to get to the dock.
What are your departure times?
We run two trips a day — 8AM to noon and 1PM to 5PM. Both are four-hour trips. Morning trips tend to be popular with families. Afternoon trips work great if you want a slower start to the day.
What happens to the fish we catch?
You keep what you catch. We’ll clean and bag your fish at the end of the trip. Bring a cooler in your car and you can take dinner home with you. Snapper and grouper straight off the boat are hard to beat.
Do you offer private charters?

What is a burial at sea service and how does it work?
We provide the boat, crew, and a respectful setting for families who want to scatter ashes or hold a memorial service at sea. It’s a long-standing tradition with both civilian and military history, and we handle it with care. Call us directly to discuss arrangements — (561) 254-5124.
How far offshore do you go?
We fish the Palm Beach to Jupiter corridor, targeting nearshore and offshore structure depending on where the fish are. Capt. Lee moves the boat to find the bite — he’s not the type to anchor in one spot if the fish aren’t there. Several reviews have called this out as the reason they had a better trip than other charters.
